data-charts-black-and-white-drawingWe now know it’s not your school demographics, your level of staff buy-in, or the amount of financial funding that keeps a PBIS initiative going.  In fact, a recent study reported that the single most significant variable related to sustained implementation of behavior interventions and supports is sharing data with staff.

The article, which you can find and read either on Google Scholar or our website, is called Variables Associated with Enhanced Sustainability of School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.  To summarize the article VERY simply, schools who shared data with their staff on a weekly basis, reported the highest average sustainability scores, while schools who shared their data with their staff less than once a year reported the lowest average sustainability scores.

So the take away message is:

  • Share data with ALL staff.
  • Share data with all staff REGULARLY.
  • Share data with all staff regularly, the MORE OFTEN THE BETTER.
