RSETASCSocialEmotional1Previously I wrote about my discovery of the Pyramid Model, which is a model of positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) for preschool and early childhood populations. This time I’d like to share a great resource related to the Pyramid Model, which I have found to be invaluable in enhancing my understanding of this model. The Center for the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) website is an incredible resource and is my go-to site for all things Pyramid Model. It is one that I constantly go back to when I am developing trainings, looking for ideas and examples to share with schools, or just want a refresher. It offers training modules, videos and printable resources that are ready for teachers to take and use in their classrooms. RSETASCSocialEmotional2While taking in as much information as possible about the model by reading articles and books is certainly valuable, there is no substitute for truly seeing the practices in action, and the videos and visual cues available on this site help to bring the model to life. Another valuable site is the Technical Assistance Center on Social Emotional Intervention (TACSEI) for Young Children site. This site has more materials and visual cues that teachers can utilize, including resources related to the “Tucker the Turtle” calming technique and their Backpack Connections series, which contains printable documents to send home to parents to provide suggestions in facilitating their child’s social-emotional development at home. They also offer these in Spanish and Chinese!

I highly recommend spending some time exploring these sites and getting to know all of the wonderful resources and information they have to offer – for free! I hope you find these useful and I look forward to sharing more great tools in the future!

I’ve been sharing information and related to the Pyramid Model, and this time I’d like to offer a little more information and clarification around the Pyramid Model and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
