This autumn, we decided to take notes and share some of those practices here. During our PBIS Universal/Tier 1 Team Training Refresher, the following schools shared a few highlights from their first year implementing PBIS.

Easter Seals Project Explore, Valhalla, NYeaster-seals-pbis-bees

Caitlyn DeSimone shared that in October the PBIS team scheduled an assembly to teach students about school-wide behavior expectations. Teachers modeled school-wide behavior expectations (4 “Be’s”, dressed as bees) with opportunities for students to be involved. Keep up the great buzz!

Farley Elementary School, Stony Point, NY

Assistant Principal Kelley Hermann showed a ‘PBIS Hallway Behavior Song’ video (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3IMUurJ7V87Q2pjNHZZWUZObDg/view) that was developed by a group of students to teach and remind fellow students of what the rules are. Bravo ladies!

Riverside High School, Yonkers, NY

Gregg Redmon is using the school’s website, http://www.yonkerspublicschools.org/riverside, to share information on the school’s positive behavior supports. Now parents, students, and community members who visit the site will learn more about being a ‘RAM’ and how they could get involved!

 Pine Grove Country Day School, Mahopac, NY

 

Jeannie Licata shared videos in which students are ‘Superheroes’ and reviewed the school-wide behavior expectations. Students, I mean ‘Superheroes’ then demonstrated setting specific rules for circle time, bathroom line and washing hands.
