Transition in the IEP Overview

This half day session will provide an overview of the requirements and best practices in writing the transition planning sections of the IEP document.
Transition planning for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) must begin the year in which they will be turning 15. Components of transition planning in the IEP document include identifying strengths, preferences, interests, and transition-related needs in the present levels of performance, measurable post-secondary goals, transition needs, courses of study, the coordinated set of transition activities, annual goals related to transition, and community agency collaboration. Transition assessments to support transition planning will also be briefly discussed.
This morning session is offered the same day as the “Transition in the IEP Study Hall,” where participants can receive coaching on writing the transition planning sections of their IEPs. Please see the PNW BOCES course catalog to register for both sessions individually.
