Evidence-Based Practices for Self-Contained Settings (Day 1 of 3)
October 12 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pmFree
This three-day workshop series is intended for Special Educators (teachers, teaching assistants, instructional coaches) who work with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The series begins with a ‘Roadtrip’ in which participants will visit adult agencies and work sites as a way of understanding the possible post-secondary outcomes for students. During days 2 and 3, participants will examine BASIC data collection and progress monitoring procedures that will include instruction on frequency, interval and ABC data collection techniques.
Additionally, participants will learn how to implement two evidenced-based practices. Those are functional communication training and social skills training. Educators will be asked to report out on the use of the evidence-based practices that they implement over the course of the series.
